A lot of us, when answering that question will say, “Yes” without a lot of thought, without...
Do you leave it to chance or find a way to solve a problem?
The standard Rubik's Cube has over 43 Quintillion possible colour combinations - that's 43 with eighteen zeros!
Realistically, if you just sit around randomly fiddling with it, you could strike lucky and solve it, but more likely you would not have enough time in your lifetime to solve it randomly, assuming your wrists could work for long enough.
I remember in the 1980's when the toy suddenly became the thing to have, there were kids at my school who learnt to solve it. Not many of them though. I had a book - I guess maybe 50 pages with turn by turn instructions on how to solve it. I never did complete it!
Occasionally you would see on television, someone who could just instinctively solve it - but they were seriously special people.
So... Why am I going on about Rubik Cubes?
Think of todays world, climate change, pandemic, redundancy, entrepreneurship, employment, consumerism. We have to manage all of those things and much, much more.
Some people can just 'do' this stuff, they can handle whatever is thrown at them and make it work.
Some have no plan, they just carry on regardless and they may or mat not find the solution - chances are they'll make do with a random pattern or try to ignore the problem.
Others, though, realise that there is another way. There is a way to simplify the problem and to reduce the doubt. They are the ones who take on a coach. They are far more likely to find a path through all of the random permutations.
Would you leave it to chance..?
